Corporate profits are up, but where are the jobs?

This is a interesting thing that I have been seeing also.  Unemployment it up yet companies are making record profits.  To me what it shows is that we had a situation of over employment before the economic downturn.  And not just over employment in terms of headcount but also job level and salaries.

Not sure what all of this means on a macro level but it certainly feels a bit weird right now.

“A world always at war.  This war is not to be won, but is war for its own sake.  No start, no end.  It is like a performance.

This world of war is the focus for my collages, paintings, drawings, and video works. The first step in the making of my work is the creation of two different colored characters.  Both of these characters are me, stand for me.  Once I establish my understanding of these two “me”s, I make a costume for each.  These costumes are based on typical ancient Asian soldiers’ uniforms.  After designing these costumes, I photograph myself wearing them in various poses.  After the images have been created, I can begin to place the me-soldiers in the battles physically and digitally which I can technically control.

In the process of creating the battle scenes, I use my photographic images in various ways.  The large canvas or wood panel brings together “my armies of me” inside drawn theatrical battlegrounds.  My videos reenact historical battles in Korea or between Korea and Japan or China.  Unlike actual war, however, these do not end tragically.  The fallen spring back to life, the severed head returns to its body and I receive (from myself) the reward of beautiful “Wonder Girls.” *
